Colonel Joseph R. Novack, Jr. was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 1-90. His first duty assignment was as a Fire Support Officer in Charlie Company, 3-187th Infantry Battalion, 101st Airborne Division and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Executive Officer, 227th Supply Company, 129th Corps Support Battalion; Commander, Headquarters and Alpha Company, 407th Forward Support Battalion, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Executive Officer, 10th Forward Support Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York/Kandahar, Afghanistan; Support Operations Officer, 210th Forward Support Battalion, Fort Drum, New York/Kabul, Afghanistan; Commander, Supply and Service Troop, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Commander, 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York/Kirkuk, Iraq; Commander, 3d Sustainment Brigade, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia/Kandahar, Afghanistan; Deputy Commander, Capabilities, Development, Integration, Combined Army Support Command, Fort Lee, Virginia. | Colonel Novack's military education includes: Field Artillery OBC, QM Transition Course, CLOAC, CGSOC, Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF), Aerial Delivery and Material Officer Course, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, and Jumpmaster Courses. He is a graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Management, and he holds an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.
