Colonel Joe M. Hill was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 324-44 on May 4, 1944. His first duty assignment was as Platoon Leader, 410th Infantry Regiment, 103d Infantry Division, Camp Howze, Texas. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Executive Officer, Battery C, 17th Field Artillery; Battery Commander, Company C, 359th Infantry, 90th Division (Reserve); Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Instructor, Dallas High Schools; Assistant S-3, Engineer Unit Training Center (Reserve), S-3, Dallas U.S. Army Reserve School; Commandant, Dallas U.S. Army Reserve School; and Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
