Major General James Pylant was commissioned an Ordinance Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 2-75, 16 May 1975. His first duty assignment was as a Platoon Leader, 367th Maintenance Company. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Command and Staff Positions at the Company, Battalion, Brigade and Subordinate Command levels. At the time of his induction he was serving as the Assistant Adjutant General, Joint Force Headquarters, Mississippi Army National Guard. | Major General Pylant's military awards and decoration include: Meritorious Service Medal w/ 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
