Gerald E. Ferguson

Colonel Gerald E. Ferguson, Jr. was commissioned Armor Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, 20 April 1976.  His first duty assignment was as Test Control Officer while attending the Degree Completion Program at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.  His subsequent duty assignments include: Tank Platoon Leader, Tank Company Executive Officer, and Tank Company Commander, B Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Erlangen, Germany; Armor Captain, Assignment Office, U.S. Army Personnel Center, Alexandria, Virginia; Assistant Brigade S3, 2nd Brigade, Tank Battalion S3, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor, and Tank Battalion Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armored, 1st Armored Division, Erlangen, Germany; Senior Emergency Action and Senior Operations Officer, Emergency Procedures Section, Nuclear Command and Control Division, J-36, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington D.C.; Battalion and Brigade Command Program Manager, U.S. Army Personnel Command, Alexandria, Virginia; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry, and Division G3, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Deputy for Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, U.S. Army Europe, Heidelberg, Germany; Brigade Commander, 98th Area Support Group, Wurzburg, Germany; Chief of Staff, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Assistant Deputy Director, G/3/5/7, and Director, Human Resources Directorate, G1, Army Staff, Pentagon, Washington D.C..

Colonel Ferguson’s awards and decorations include: The Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Award, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 OLC), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Colonel Ferguson is a recipient of the Draper Leadership Award, the Order of St. George, and the Order of St. Barbara.

Colonel Ferguson’s education includes: The General Officer Capstone Course, Army War College, Armed Forces Staff College, and Drake University.
