Colonel Donald M. Kington was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, Class 8-52, 3 March 1952. His first duty assignment was as Assistant S-4, 53d Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Colonel Kington served with the 100th Division (Training) in the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years as a Staff Officer. In 1961, he was recalled to active duty with the 100th Division. | His subsequent duty assignments include: S-3, 2d Battalion, 398th Regiment, 100th Division, Fort Chaffee, Arkansas; Assistant G-3, Headquarters, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Chaffee, Arkansas; Executive Officer and Commander, Headquarters Company, Eighth U.S. Army, Yongson, Seoul, Korea; Radio & Television Officer, Information Office, Sixth U.S. Army, Presidio of San Francisco, California; Public Information Officer, Public Affairs Office, U.S. Southern Command, Canal Zone; Information Officer, 4th Infantry Division, Vietnam; Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 1st Basic Combat Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington; Information Officer, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army Combat Support Command, Heidelberg, Germany; Chief, Public Information, Public Affairs Office, U.S. Army Europe, Heidelberg, Germany; Chief, Advertising and Public Affairs Division, Second Reserve Officer Training Command (ROTC), Fort Knox, Kentucky. | Colonel Kington worked in Public Relations for Bank of America, San Francisco, California, following his retirement.
