Colonel Lawrence Edward Connors was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, Class 55-67, 25 September 1967. Following IOBC, he reported to his first duty assignment as a Platoon Leader with Company A, 3-10 IN, 5th ID.

His subsequent duty assignments include: Platoon Leader, B Co, 1-7 Cav (RVN); Commander, B Co, 1-7 Cav (RVN); Commander, 943rd Replacement Detachment; S-2, 340th MP BN; S-3, 340th MP BN; Commander, 310th MP BN; S-2, 800th MP BDE (EPW); Deputy Chief of Operations, 77th ID Regional Support Command.

His military education and training consists of: Infantry Officer Candidate School, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Military Police Advanced Course, Department of Defense Emergency Preparedness Course, and Command and General Staff College.

Colonel Connors continued to serve his community until his retirement after 32 years of military service as a New York City firefighter, including missions to Afghanistan and Iraq in the capacity of both MP officer and firefighter. He is also a lifelong member of the ROA, VFW, DAV and the American Legion, actively serving in those organizations.

His military awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (w/2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (w/V device and OLC), Purple Heart, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (w/3 Battle Stars), Overseas Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Valorous Unit Award for B Co, 1-7 Cav (RVN).
