Colonel Clifford R. Dorsey was commissioned a Chemical Corps Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School on 27 October 1948. His first duty assignment was as Gunnery Officer, 2d Chemical Mortar Battalion, Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland and Korea. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Staff and Faculty, Chemical Corps School, Fort McClellan, Alabama; Battery Commanding Officer and Battalion S-3, 44th AAA Battalion (90mm Gun), Niagara Falls, New York; Assistant S-3, 2d AAA Group, Niagara Falls, New York;  Mortar Battery Commanding Officer, 2d Battle Group, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia and Germany; Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 10th Artillery, 3d Infantry Division, Germany; Staff and Faculty, Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Battalion Commander, 6th Battalion, 44th Artillery ( Hawk), Korea;  Action Officer, Capabilities Branch Chief,  Assistant Chief Was Plans Division, Office of Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Headquarters, Department of the Army, Washington, D. C; Deputy Chief, Department of Larger Unit Operations, United States Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas;  Chief, Middle East, Africa Branch, J-7, Headquarters, European Command, Stuttgart, Germany; and Senior Advisor, 108th Training Division (United States Army Reserve), Charlotte, North Carolina.
