John F. Gwizdak

Captain John F. Gwizdak was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 519-68, 11 March 1968. His first duty assignment was as Unit Officer, 2nd Correctional Training Unit, 1st Correctional Training Battalion, U.S. Army Correctional Training Facility, Fort Riley, Kansas. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Heavy Mortar Platoon Leader, Company E, 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade, United States Army Reserve; Company Commander; Range Operations Officer and Chief of Intelligence and Operations Branch, 7th Army Training Center, Hohenfels, Germany; Professional Development Officer, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Atlanta, Georgia. His civilian assignments include: Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars, State Department, Georgia; Quartermaster and Adjutant, State Department, Georgia; Veterans of Foreign Wars National Council of Administration, Appeals Committee, Chairman of the Americanism and Legislative Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Affairs Committee on the national by-laws Review Committee. | At the time of his induction, Captain Gwizdak was owner and president of John F. Gwizdak, Inc., and the owner of Builders Realty. He was also serving as the National Junior Vice Commander, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
