Robert C. Zelazny

Colonel Robert (Bob) Zelazny entered the Army in September 1969.  Upon completion of Infantry Officer Candidate School, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. | Following completion of the Signal Officer Basic Course, Colonel Zelazny was assigned to the 1st Signal Group, Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in the 268th Signal Company (tropo light), Assistant S-1 and Radio Systems Officer. In 1974, he was reassigned to the 2d Infantry Division, serving as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery Commander and CESO with the 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery. Following his tour in Korea, Colonel Zelazny returned to Fort Stewart, Georgia, to assume duties as the CESO, 2d Battalion, 21st Infantry, and later as S-1 and Commander, A Company, 24th Signal Battalion, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized). In 1980, he was transferred to Germany where he served as Staff Officer and Assistant Executive Officer, ODCSPER, Headquarters USAREUR. Upon his return to the States in 1983, Colonel Zelazny was assigned to I Corps as the C-E Plans and Operations Officer and then served as the Executive Officer, 29th Signal Battalion. In September of 1987, he transferred to Brussels and assumed duties as Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Director General, NATO Communications and Information Systems Agency (NACISA). Colonel ZelArizonany returned to  Germany in 1989 and assumed command of the 26th Signal Battalion.  While in Command, he deployed the unit to SWashington in support of VII(US) Corps during Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. Upon redeployment to Germany, the battalion was inactivated and he assumed his new duties as the Deputy Brigade Commander, 7th Signal Brigade. Colonel ZelArizonany assumed his position as Director of Architecture, ODISC4 in June of 1993. On 23 June 1994, he assumed command of the 3rd Signal Brigade. | Colonel Zelazny's military education and training includes includes: Signal Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses, the Army and Marine Corps Command and General Staff Colleges and the Air War College. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History - Education from Washington State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Management from Webster University. | His awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Fourth Oak Leaf Cluster) and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal and the Army Identification Badge.
