Description

Lieutenant Colonel Walter I. Berlin began his commissioned career as a Platoon Leader in the 13th Armored Division, Camp Beale, California, later assuming the duties as Company Commander and Company Executive Officer in 1943 and moved to Camp Bowie, Texas. In 1946, he was separated from the service and remained in the inactive reserve through 1950. In 1951, he was recalled to active duty with the 5th Infantry Division, and assigned to the Division Faculty. Later in 1957, he was reassigned as S3, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii, and in 1958 was assigned as S4, same organization, and remained in the capacity until 1959. | Lieutenant Colonel Berlin's awards and decorations include: the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal w/V Device and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, CIB and Star and the Belgian Fourragere.
