RALPH J. RASHID
Upon graduating from the Infantry Officer Candidate School, Lieutenant Colonel Ralph J. Rashid served as Platoon Leader and Battalion Supply Officer Inf Replacement Training Center, Fort McClellan, Alabama, and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1942. | While serving as Battalion Supply Officer and Executive Officer of the 48th Replacement Battalion , Camp Cook, California, in 1943, he was promoted to Captain. In 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid was assigned as Assistant Operations Officer of the 10th Replacement Depot in the European Theater of Operations. In 1945, he served as Troop Commander and Provost Marshall Shriver American University and was appointed to the rank of Major. Subsequent assignments in European Theater of Operations include Commanding Officer 96th Quartermaster Group. Lieutenant Colonel Rashid returned to Fort Benning in 1948 and served as Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, Student Training Regiment, Regimental S-1 and Property Officer, The Infantry School. He was assigned as Adv Supply and Evac Staff Officer, MAAG, Japan in 1951 and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. In 1954 and 1955, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Commanding Officer 2d Battalion 1st Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and graduated from Associate CG&S College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. From 1956-1958, he was assigned as Infantry Advisor to the Third Turkish Army, Turkey. Again in 1959, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid returned to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as Executive Officer, 1st Battle Group, 29 Infantry, Deputy Brigade Commander 1st Infantry Brigade. | Lieutenant Colonel Rashid’s awards and decorations include: the Army Commendation Medal, National Security Defense Medal, Army Occupation Germany, American Defense Service Medal, American, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Army Occupation Japan.
