The Honorable Mickey L. Hutchins was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 11-69 on 15 March 1969.  His first duty assignment was as Senior Tactical Officer, 75th Company (North Carolina OC), 7th Training Battalion, The Student Brigade, Fort Benning, Georgia. | His subsequent duty assignments include:  Student Officer, MassachusettsTA Course, JFK Center for Military Assistance, Fort Bragg, North Carolina;  Student Officer, Defense Language Institute, Fort Bliss, Texas;  Mobile Advisory Team Leader and District Intelligence Advisor, Advisory Team 86 Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MassachusettsCV);  Aide-de-Camp, Assistant Division Commander, 30th Infantry Division (Mechanized), North Carolina Army National Guard, Raleigh, North Carolina;  Student Officer, Infantry Officer, Advanced Course, Fort Benning, Georgia;  Assistant S-4, 30th Engineer Brigade, North Carolina Army National Guard, Raleigh, North Carolina;  Assistant S-1, 30th Infantry Bde (Sep), North Carolina Army National Guard, Clinton, North Carolina;  Company Commander, Company C, 1/120th Infantry (Mechanized), Smithfield, North Carolina;  Instructor, Tactics Committee, North Carolina Academy (OCS), North Carolina Army National Guard, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Military Aide-de-Camp, Governor’s Personal Staff, North Carolina Army National Guard, Raleigh, North Carolina; and Deputy Secretary, North Carolina Department of Economic and Community Development. | Mr. Hutchins is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, w/ a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Military schools attended include: The JFK Center for Military Assistance, Fort Bragg, North Carolina;  the Defense Language Institute, Fort Bliss, Texas;  the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Fort Benning, Georgia; and the Brigade Staff Officers’ Refresher Course, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. | His awards and decorations include: the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal w/ V device, the Vietnamese Honor Medal (1st Class), and the North Carolina Meritorious Service Medal.
