Brigadier General John R. Groves, Jr. was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 2-68 RC, 20 August 1968. In his civilian work, he has served as Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. He is an architect in private practice and an associate professor of architecture with tenure at the University of Kentucky College of Architecture, where he is also an associate dean. He was serving as the Adjutant General for Kentucky at the time of his induction.
