Stell rose from Platoon Leader to Battalion Commander with the 382d Infantry Regiment in the United States and later in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He has also served as Regimental Commander of the 135th Infantry Regiment at Fort Rucker, Alabama. | His other duty assignments include: Assistant PMS&T, North Carolina State College; Senior Advisor to the 5th R.O.K.
