Captain Heinz K. Roesch was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 44-67, 1 August 1967. He also received his U.S. Citizenship on 01 August 1967. | His subsequent duty assignments were: Advisor to a Mobile Strike Force Platoon, Company D, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, Nui Coto Mountain, Republic of Vietnam; Senior Provincial Reconnaissance Unit Advisor, Company D, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, Kontum Province, Republic of Vietnam; Commander, Company D, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, Republic of Vietnam. His military campaigns consist of the Vietnam counteroffensive Phase III, Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase IV, Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase V, TET Counteroffensive, TET ‘69 counteroffensive, Vietnam Summer-Fall 69, Unnamed Campaign.| Captain Roesch's military education and training includes: Parachutist Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Good Conduct Medal, German Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, VSH, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, PH, VN Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, Air Medal, 3 Overseas Service Bars, VN Cal Cross, UN Civilian Air Medal. | His awards include: The Bronze Star Medal For Heroism (Four Oak Leaf Clusters) with “V” Device, Award of The Air Medal, The Purple Heart.
