Colonel Gary R. Rockwood was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 2-65, 29 November 1965. His first duty assignment was as Platoon Leader, 2/12th Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division.
