Description

Colonel Roy Rene Pinette was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer upon graduation from the Connecticut Army National Guard Officer Candidate School at Camp Dempsey, Connecticut, 5 July 1969. This was predated by 3 years of enlisted service with CTARNG. Following IOBC, he reported to his first duty assignment as a Forward Observer, Battery C 2-192nd FA.

His subsequent duty assignments include: Platoon Leader, B Co, 1-169th IN; Executive Officer, B Co, 1-169th IN; Commander, CSC Co, 1-169th IN; S-3 Air (Operations), HHC, 1-169th IN; S-2 (Intelligence), HHC, 1-169th IN; S-3 (Operations), HHC, 1-169th IN; S-3 (Operations), 43rd IN BDE; Commander, 143rd Support BN; Executive Officer, 43rd IN BDE; Commander, 43rd IN BDE; Chief of Staff, HHD State Area Command; Director of Security, HHD State Area Command.

Following retirement, COL Pinette served as Human Resource Director for the town of Wethersfield, Connecticut, where he honorably served until his second retirement after four decades of distinguished Federal and State service. COL Pinette continues to serve and support the National Guard Foundation, Naval War College Foundation, 43rd IN Division Veterans Association, as well as holding the titles of Chairman of the 169th IN Regiment Association and Founding Member of the Florida Space Treasure Coast Chapter, OCSAA.

His military education and training include: Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, BN/BDE Pre-Command Course, Division Support Command Course, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College.

His military awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (w/ OLC), Army Commendation Medal (w/OLC), Army Achievement Medal (w/2 OLC), Army National Guard Components Achievement Medal (w/Silver OLC and 2 Bronze OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (w/ OLC), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (w/2 OLC), Army Service Ribbon, Connecticut Medal of Merit, Connecticut Long Service Award (30 Years), Connecticut Emergency Service Ribbon (w/Silver OLC and 2 Bronze OLC), and the Connecticut Outstanding Unit Award.
