Description
COL Martin C. Schulz commissioned from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia Class 3-87 on 25 June 1987. His first duty assignment was to the 2d Psychological Operations (PSYOP) Group in Cleveland, Ohio.
His notable duty assignments include: Commander, BPSE 22, 10th Mountain Division, Cap Haitien, Haiti; Operations officer, 8th PSYOP BN (Airborne) PSYOP OIC, CJSOTF, Bagram, Afghanistan; Commander, 12th/100th Battalion (Civil Affairs/Military Information Support Operations), Twinsburg, Ohio; Operations officer, 643d Regional Support Group Whitehall, Ohio; Commander, 3rd Brigade/100th Division (CA/MISO) Fort Totten, New York. His last duty assignment was as the G357 Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Planning, and Training for the 80th Training Command (TASS) in Richmond, Virginia.
His military education consists of: Armor Officer Basic Course (honor graduate), PSYOP Officer Course, Military Intelligence Advance Course, Civil Affairs Advance Course (Commandant’s List), Command & General Staff College, Joint Forces Staff College (Reserve Officer’s Writing Award winner), and the U.S. Army War College.
His highest military awards include: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (w/3 OLCs), Army Expeditionary Medal (w/1 Bronze Star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was also named the Reserve Officers Association’s Strom Thurmond Junior Officer of the Year and was a recipient of the U.S. Army GEN MacArthur Leadership award.
