Description
COL Larry R. Jordan, Jr. was commissioned an Armor Officer upon graduation as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia, on 7 August 1997. His first duty assignment was as a tank platoon leader with 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored cavalry Regiment, followed by assignment as a scout platoon leader.
His notable duty assignments include troop commander and later battalion executive officer with 3rd Stryker Bride, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis and Iraq; squadron executive officer, RSTA Squadron, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg and Afghanistan; Deputy Chief of Operations, G-3 Section, 82nd Airborne Division, Afghanistan; branch chief, Army Capabilities Integration Center, Fort Eustis; and Chief of Inspections, TRADOC Inspector General, Fort Eustis. After twenty years in Armor and cavalry, he transitioned to Cyber Branch and served as Electronic Warfare Officer, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks; Chief, Cyber-Electronic Warfare, U.S. Army Central, Shaw Air Force Base; and Chief, Cyber-Electronic Warfare, U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
His military education includes the United States Cavalry Leader Course, the Joint Firepower Course, Electronic Warfare Officer Course, the Army Space Cadre Course, and the Army Command and General Staff College.
His highest military awards include: the Bronze Star Medal (3rd award), the Purple Heart Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), the Army Commendation Medal (combat), and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (2nd award).
After his scheduled retirement in February 2024, he plans to serve as a Department of the Army civilian at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-pacific Center for Security Studies.
