COL Francis A. "Frank" Daniels was commissioned an Armor Corps Officer upon graduation from Infantry Officer Candidate School, Class 6-72, on 4 October 1972 at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following graduation from the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, his first assignment was as Training Officer, Company A, 8th Battalion, 4th Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

After retiring from the United States Army Reserve in December 2002, Colonel Daniels was recalled to active duty voluntarily from October 2007 to October 2009 to serve as the Chief of Staff (CofS), Medical Evaluation Board and Physical Evaluation Board Task Force, Office of the G-1, United States Army where he simultaneously served from July 2008 to October 2009 as the CofS for GEN(R) Fred Franks Jr. as he conducted a Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board Process Review for the Army CofS; October 2010 to November 2010 to conduct a review of the Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board Process Report written w/GEN(R) Franks, and August 2011 to March 2015 to represent the Army as a Presiding/Line Officer for the Congressionally Mandated Physical Disability Board of Review for which the Air Force was the Executive Agent.
