His first duty assignment was as Platoon Leader, Bravo Troop, 6th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Fort Meade, Maryland. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Assistant Operations Officer, 1st Squadron, 6th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Fort Meade, Maryland; Platoon Leader, and Executive Officer, Foxtrot Troop, 2/11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Xuan Loc, Republic of Vietnam; Platoon Leader, Aero Rifle Platoon, Air Cavalry Troop, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Republic of Vietnam; Assistant Operations Officer, Headquarters, Headquarters Troop, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Republic of Vietnam. | His military awards include: Silver Star, three Bronze Star Medals, one with V device, Purple Heart, two Air Medals, Army Commendation Medal with V device, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge. | Following his military service, he entered the commercial real estate brokerage field where he remained active for more than 35 years. He is one of the leading recognized authorities in Atlanta on the leasing and sales of commercial properties & office buildings. He is a Senior Vice President of Ackerman & Company, a highly regarded Atlanta real estate service firm. In 1985 he was a co-organizer and served as President of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association, a group of over 400 professional leaders in the Atlanta community and veterans of the Vietnam War. He served as Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Georgia, and as a Board Member of the Governor’s Military Affairs Coordinating Committee of Directors.
