Colonel Charles D. (Dave) Childers was commissioned a Military Police Officer upon graduation from the Officer Candidate School Class 3-75, 20 May 1975. His first duty assignment was as Assistant Operations Officer, Fort McPherson, Georgia. His subsequent assignments include: Provost Marshal Operations Officer, Commander, 525th Military Police Company, Fort McPherson, Georgia; Public Affairs Officer, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Provost Marshal Operations Officer, Battalion S-3,19th Military Police Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Operations Officer and Brigade Assistant S-3, 8th Military Police Brigade and United States Forces Korea, Provost Marshal Office, Seoul, Korea; Operations and Training Staff Officer, Provost Marshal Office, Headquarters, Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Georgia; Personnel Assignments Officer, Personnel Command, Alexandria, Virginia; Battalion Executive Officer and Deputy Provost Marshal, Law Enforcement Command, Battalion Commander and Provost Marshal, Law Enforcement Command, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Director of Training Developments, United States Army Military Police School, Battalion Commander, 701st Military Police Battalion, Fort McClellan, Alabama; and Public Affairs Officer, Headquarters, United States Army Military District of Washington, Fort McNair, Washington D.C. He is a graduate of the US Army War College, Army Command and General Staff College, Defense Public Affairs Officer Course, Infantry and MP Officer Advance Courses, and the MP Officer Basic Course. He holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Mississippi. Colonel Childers retired from the Army in 1999.
