The Honorable Carl Lloyd Patrick was commissioned an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 17-42, 2 June 1942. His first duty assignment was as Platoon Leader, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). | His subsequent duty assignments include: Platoon Leader, 81mm Mortar Platoon, 504th PIR, Africa and Sicily; Regimental Adjutant and Regimental Executive Officer, 1st Parachute Training Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; Chief, Parachute Branch, AGF R&S Command, Birmingham, Alabama. | As a civilian, Mr. Patrick was the General Manager and President, Martin Theatres, Columbus, Georgia. He then merged Martin Theatres with Fuqua Industries and was President, Fuqua Industries, Atlanta, Georgia. He eventually resigned from Fuqua Industries, bought Martin Theaters, and established Carmike Cinemas, Columbus, Georgia.
