He is Stevenson Professor of International History emeritus at the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, United Kingdom. | His many works include Mussolini Unleashed, 1939-1941, Hitler’s Italian Allies; and, with Williamson Murray, The Making of Strategy: Rulers, States, and War and The Dynamics of Military Revolution, 1300-2050.
