Arthur K. Bolton entered military service 5 August 5 1943, attended OCS Fort Benning, Georgia, and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry, December 14, 1943. He served in the 97th Infantry Division at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, through May, 1944, and with 118th Infantry Regiment in England from June, 1944 to October, 1944, and served in combat with the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, until he was wounded in action April 6, 1945.  He received the European Theater of Operations ribbon with three campaign stars, Silver Star and Purple Heart, and was retired with rank of Captain on September 30, 1946. | Mr. Bolton entered the practice of law in Griffin in 1947. He was County Administrator 1952-65, Judge of the Recorders Court of Griffin 1952-65, served two terms on the Board of Governors of the Georgia Bar Association, 1958-59, 1962-63 and was Chairman of the Legislative Committee in 1962-63. He was elected to the House of Representatives, Georgia General Assembly, in 1949 and served until 1965. While serving in the House of Representatives, he was Chairman of the Tax-Equilization Committee from 1959 through 1965. Served as Chairman of a special committee to study the location of a new institution for the mentally retarded; was Chairman of the Special Judiciary Committee 1961-62; member of the Constitutional Revision Committee 1963-64; Vice-Chairman of the Rules Committee 1963-65 and Administration Floor Leader in the House of Representatives for 1963-65. Appointed Attorney General June 14, 1965. | He was awarded the Active Voters’ of Georgia Statesmanship Award for his services in the General Assembly for 1961-62, Man-of-the-Year in Griffin in 1962, and received Public Service Award from the Georgia Municipal Association in 1965, and the Key Citizenship Award in 1970.  He was named Outstanding Alumnus of North Georgia College for 1970-71 and served as President of the University of Georgia Law School Alumni Association in 1969-70. He is a Council Member of the North Georgia College Alumni Association, President of the LaGrange College Parents Association and Ex-Officio Member of the Board of Trustees of LaGrange College. |Mr. Bolton was married to Marion Lee Cashen in Battle Creek, Michigan, September 30, 1946. Children: Arthur, Jr., born 1948 and Marian, born 1952. | Member, First Baptist Church, Griffin, Georgia; Democrat, Kiwanian, Elk, VFW and American Legion. | He was born in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, May 14, 1922. He attended public school and graduated from Spalding High with honors in 1939. While attending Spalding High he was President of his Sophomore Class, Treasurer of his Senior Class, and elected Best AllAround Student in his Senior year. He attended North Georgia College from 1939 through 1941, and was a member of the college Debate Team. He entered the University of Georgia Law School in the fall of 1941, and was President of both his Junior and Senior law classes. He received his LL.B. in 1943. He was Student Bar Editor and is a Member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
