His first assignment was a student, Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, California. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Plans and Training Officer, and later served as Adjutant, Area Intelligence Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer, 470th Military Intelligence Group, Canal Zone, Republic of Panama; Intelligence Liaison Officer, IV Corp, United States Army Vietnam, Vietnam; Counterintelligence Chief, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; Assistant to Battalion Commander, 68th Transportation Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion School Brigade, Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Commander Detachment A, 470th Military Intelligence Group, Republic of Panama. | Captain Rascon was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation SILVER CITY March 1966 in the Republic of Vietnam. | He retired as Inspector General, Selective Service System, Rosalyn, Virginia.
