His first duty assignment was as Platoon Leader, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Pathfinder Team Leader, 1st Cavalry Division, Vietnam; A Team Leader, Special Forces Unit, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; A Team Leader, 19th Special Forces Group, White Plains, New York; Company Commander, United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia; Company Commander, 101st Airborne Division, Vietnam; Launch Officer, 5th Special  Forces Group, Vietnam; High Altitude, Low Opening Team Leader, 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Devens, Massachusetts; B Team Executive Officer, 19th Special Forces, Schenectady, New York; Company Commander, Company A, 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry, Troy, New York; Liaison Officer, 27th Support Center, Albany, New York; Liaison Officer, Command and Control Headquarters, Albany, New York; G-3, Command and Control Headquarters, Albany, New York; S-3, Headquarters Troop Command, Albany, New York; Battalion Commander, 2d Battalion, 105th Infantry, Troy, New York. He was serving as Project Officer (Investigations) Headquarters State Area Command NYARNG, New York, at the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame.
