Colonel Timothy Jackman was commissioned on graduation from Infantry Officer Candidate School, Class OCRC 63, Fort Benning, Georgia in August 1963. He was subsequently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corps. His first commissioned assignment was with the 13th Evacuation Hospital, Wisconsin National Guard. | He entered active duty at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in October 1964 and attended the Medical Service Officer Basic. Subsequently, he was assigned as a Medical Platoon Leader in the 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. He had subsequent assignments with the 1/73rd Armor, 7th Infantry Division, Korea, 12th Evacuation Hospital, Cu Chi, Republic of Vietnam, B Company, 9th Medical Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, Dong Tam, Republic of Vietnam, 23rd ARepublic of Vietnam Division (MACV), Ban Me Thout, Republic of Vietnam, 15th Medical Battalion, Phuc Vinh, Republic of Vietnam. After his tours in Vietnam, Colonel Jackman was assigned to Germany where he was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 31st Medical Group, Darmstadt and the 97th General Hospital, Frankfurt. | On return to the Continental United States, he was assigned to Fort Sam Houston and then to Darnell Army Hospital. A year later he was assigned to the U.S. Army Health Facility Planning Agency, Pentagon. His next duty assignment was as the Commander, 28th Combat Support Hospital, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. That assignment was followed by a position as a Personnel Officer, Medical Service Corp Career Activities Office, Officer of the Surgeon General, Washington, D.C. Subsequently, Colonel Jackman was assigned as the Assistant Commandant, U.S. Army Medical Center and School, Fort Sam Houston. At the conclusion of that assignment, Colonel Jackman was the Assistant Chief, Medical Service Corps and Assistant Director, Health Care Operations, Office of the Army Surgeon General. He was later assigned as the Professor of Health Care Studies, The Industrial College of the Armed Forces and National War College, Fort McNair, Virginia; and his final assignment, Special Assistant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General. | Colonel Jackman's military education and training includes: Basic Training, Combat Medic Training, Supply Sergeant Training, The Army Maintenance Management System, Infantry and Medical Service Corps Officer Basic Courses, Management of Mass Casualties, Personnel Officer Course, Amphibious Cargo Loading School, Medical Service Corps Advanced Course, Vietnamese Language School, U.S. Army/Baylor University Program in Health Care Administration, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College. | His military awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal w/8 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Superior Unit Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civic Actions Unit Citation, Republic of Korea Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Staff Identification Badge, and Combat Medic Badge.
