Description

Colonel Vincent J. Oddi, Jr. was commissioned from the Officer Candidate School, Class Number 8, at Fort Benning in March 1952. In 1952 he took Command of Company A, 2d Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. Colonel Oddi later assumed Command of Company D, 2d Bn, 50th Infantry, U.S. Army Europe. Upon his return stateside he was assigned as a Project Officer for the U.S. Army Armor Board at Fort Knox, Kentucky. | In 1964 he went to Korea as the S-2 for the 3d Bde, 1st Cav Division. In 1966 he was assigned to Operations in the U.S. Army Limited War Laboratory at Aberdeen, Maryland. He then went to the 25th Infantry Division in the Republic of Vietnam, where he was the Bde Executive Officer of the 2d Bde and later Battalion Commander of 2d Bn, 27th Infantry, 25th Division. In 1970 he returned to Aberdeen, Maryland as the Chief of Combat Development and Analysis Office, and later Commander Small Arms Systems Agency and Chief, Material Systems Development Division in the Directorate of Combat Development, USAIS, Fort Benning, Georgia. | His awards and decorations include CIB, Silver Star w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Legion of Merit w/3 Oak Leaf Cluster; Distinguished Flying Cross; Bronze Star Medal; Air Medal w/8 Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
