FRED H. HORLOCK
Description
Lieutenant Colonel Fred H. Horlock served as a Tac Officer with the Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1942. In 1943, he was transferred to Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi, where he was assigned as a Company Officer to H Company, 254th Infantry Regiment. Later in 1943, he attained the rank of Captain and became the Company Commander of H Company, 254th Infantry Regiment. In 1944 he moved with this unit to the European Theater of Operations. He remained with this unit throughout his tour in Europe during World War II, and later in 1945 and 1946, first as a Captain and then as a Major, he served as the Battalion S3. In 1946 he returned to the USAnd entered the Inactive Reserve as a Major. In 1948 and 1949 he served with the Mississippi National Guard and in 1950, re-entered the Active Army as a Major in the U.S. Army Infantry. Further assignments include CO of the 3d Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Battalion XO of the same battalion at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, in 1951. He served as a Regimental Advisor with K.M.A.G Korea during the Korean Conflict in the years 1952 -1954 and was reassigned as Battalion XO to the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment at Hokkaido, Japan. In 1955 he returned to the USAnd since that time, has served in the capacity of R.O.T.C. Advisor to the San Antonio, Texas High School System.
