Colonel Edward Thomas Flash was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 4 Brisbane, Australia, 4 October 1944. His first duty assignment was as 2nd Platoon, F Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Parachute Regiment (Rock Force), 82nd Airborne Division, Corregidor, Philippines during World War II. | His subsequent duty assignments were as a Japanese Guerilla Warfare Tactics/Master Parachute Jump Instructor and Assistant Academy Operations/Administration Officer to include Officer's Advance Course Instructor at the Airborne School, Fort Benning, Georgia, Assistant S-3 and Labor Supervisor promoted to S-3 of the 7806th SCU European Command, Wurzburg, Germany; Korean Occupation, Battalion Adjutant/S3 Headquarters 3rd Bn, 19th Inf Regiment. Fort Ord, California; Lieutenant Colonel G-3 Air, 18th Airborne Corps, and MAJ Asst. G-3 Operations, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Lieutenant Colonel Joint Military Advisory Group Vietnam and then the Army Senior Advisor to the Royal Thailand Special Forces/Airborne School Lopburi, Thailand; Director of Army Ground Combat Division, at USAF Air/Ground Operations School, Hurlburt Field, Eglin Air Base, Florida; Deputy Senior Advisor to IV Corps (CL) supporting the 9th/25th Infantry Division in the Vietnam Delta and Iron Triangle; G-3 Operations Officer, 4th Army Headquarters, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Troop Support Commander and Logistics Coordinator in Qui Nhon, Vietnam; and Army Group Advisor to the USA Adv Group (USAR), Fort Sam Houston, Texas. | His military education consists of the Officer Candidate School, Infantry Basic and Advanced Courses, Command and General Staff College, LaCaze Academy Thai Language Course, Counter Insurgency and Special Warfare Staff Officer Course, Air Ground Operation School, Infantry Air Transport School, Military Assistant Training Advisor Course and Parachute Packing School. | His military awards include a Bronze Star with two oak leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, World War II Victory Medal, Presidential Unit Citation (Phil), Distinguished Unit Citation, Phil Lib Rib, Phil Ind Rib, Asian Pacific Service Ribbon, Amer Occup.
