Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Cory Roberts

John Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Cory Roberts commissioned as an Infantry Officer in April 2002 through US Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA following eight years of enlisted service as an Infantryman. In December 2005, LTC Roberts graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. LTC Roberts continued his education by receiving his Graduate Degree in Leadership and Management from Webster University in St. Louis, MO and graduating from the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. During his 26yrs of Military Service, LTC Roberts has served in leadership positions from the Platoon through the Battalion and Squadron level.
LTC Roberts began his three year tour of duty as the Professor of Military Science in May of 2017 and has not only improved the quality of the Lieutenant produced by Jacksonville State University, but has also doubled the enrollment size of the program to 100 Cadets for the Fall of 2019. Prior to selection as Professor of Military Science at Jacksonville State University in 2017, he was the Operations Officer for the US Army’s Joint Modernization Command Training and Evaluation Division at Fort Bliss, TX where his team focused on developing systems and tactics for the Army 2025 and beyond concepts. Some of LTC Roberts’ assignments include: 4th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 101st Airborne Division, 1st Infantry Division, and the 1st Cavalry Division. LTC Roberts also served at an instructor at the US Army Engineer Captain’s Career Course and subsequently oversaw curriculum and faculty development at the School of Advanced Leadership and Tactics. LTC Roberts designed, stood up, and taught the first ever US Army Special Operations Captain’s Career Course at Fort Bragg in 2012. He also served 3 combat tours to Operation Iraqi Freedom and multiple operational assignments to Kuwait, Kosovo, and Korea.
In May of 2020, LTC Roberts will assume command of 1st Battalion 19th Infantry Regiment to train US Army Infantrymen and is one of two Gender Integrated Infantry OSUT Battalions at Fort Benning, GA. His Battalion will also oversee all US Army Mortar system training and the Annual International Mortar Competition conducted at Fort Benning every spring.
LTC Roberts’ award and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), ARCOM (8th Oak Leaf Cluster), and Army Achievement Medal (6th Oak Leaf Cluster). LTC Roberts also earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge and the Senior Army Instructor Badge.
LTC Roberts is married to Captain (Retired) Kaycee Roberts. He has five children: Brandon, Cameron, Payton, Logan, and Cayden.
