LTC (Ret.) Ken Braswell

VICE PRESIDENT FOR OPERATIONS

Lieutenant Colonel Henry K. Braswell (USA, Ret) earned his Army commission from Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning Georgia, in 1974 following two years of enlisted service. Enlisting in 1972, Ken completed training as a Signal Corps cryptographic technician at Fort Monmouth followed by attendance at the Tactical Electronic Equipment Maintenance NCO Basic Course. Commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery officer, he served as a Platoon Leader in every ADA weapon system in the current inventory. Chaparral/Vulcan and Redeye with the 9th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis Washington, IHawk and Nike Hercules missile defense systems with the 38th ADA Brigade, Republic of Korea. He is Battery Control Officer/Tactical Control Officer qualified. Following graduation from the ADA Officers Advanced Course he was selected to attend the Army Bootstrap Program where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management. He concluded his 11 year active duty service in Italy as a Captain, serving on the General Staff as the War Plans Officer, G-3 Operations, Southern European Task Force. As an Active Army Reservist for the following 14 years, he served as a staff officer with the 78th Division (New Jersey) and 1157th USAR School/98th Division (New York). He is a graduate of the US Army Air Defense Artillery School’s Officer Basic and Advance Courses as well as the US Army Command and General Staff College. With the assistance of the G.I. Bill he received his Master of Business Administration degree in 1986.

His military awards include the Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon.

Civilian experience from 1983-2007 was principally as an equipment sales representative for major corporations such as Xerox, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and a medical equipment subsidiary of Danaher Corporation. Ken’s performance as a salesman earned him several President’s Club Awards.

Following the years as a corporate salesman, Ken and his family owned and operated a highly successful Trophy and Engraving business on the Jersey Shore. He and Judy recently sold the business and have now settled into retirement at The Villages Florida. Following retirement, Ken recounted his small business “lessons-learned” in 4 separate articles published by The Engravers Journal, the Awards and Recognition Industry’s trade magazine.

Ken is an avid historian and has sought to maintain ties with the military fraternity. His public service includes establishing a non-profit corporation for NY-56 Sandy Hook, New Jersey – Nike Historical Society, as well as creating a web site for Philadelphia’s American Legion Post 405. Most recently Ken served as President of the Florida Chapter USAOCSAA, followed by his joining the National Board of Directors.
