Dr. Frank Lazzara

Dr. Frank Lazzara has worked the last seven years at the U.S. Army’s Cyber School at Ft. Eisenhower, Georgia in Leader Development and leads many projects in the integration of the Cyber Branch into the other Army branch TRADOC schools and as the civilian lead for the CCoE’s new Cyber and EW Davis Range for Cyber and EW Soldiers. From 2008 to 2016 he was the VP of Business Development for two Defense contracting companies in support of Army efforts.
Prior to that he was a faculty member at the Columbus State University’s College of Business responsible for regional economic development assistance in west Central Georgia. During those twelve years he was instrumental representing Columbus State University with such projects as the BRAC movement of the Armor School from Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Ft. Benning and was also instrumental in other local Columbus economic development projects such as the Whitewater Rafting in downtown Columbus. Dr. Lazzara has earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Capella University, an MBA from Columbus State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Auburn University.
Dr. Lazzara entered the Army in 1983 and was commissioned as an Armor Officer in August of 1983 from the OCS program at Ft. Benning, GA. He served with the 2-34th Armor Battalion in Ft. Carson, CO as a Platoon Leader and HHC Executive Officer. As part of the original Army’s Project Warrior Program, he was selected to attend the Infantry Officer Advanced Course at Ft. Benning and after promotion to Captain, served in the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea from 1987 to 1989. He was an Assistant S3 and then served as the 2-72nd Armor Battalion’s Charlie Company Commander from 1988 to 1989. His next assignment took him to the National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, CA where he served on the Dragon Live
Fire Team as an Observer/Controller prior to assuming the Headquarters Company Command of A-Company, Operations Group, at Ft. Irwin. He next served at the Armor School’s Command and Staff Department where he worked on the Fratricide issues from the Persian Gulf war.
CPT Lazzara’s military education includes Basic Training, OCS, Armor Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advance Course, S4 Logistics Officer Course, Observer Controller Course, and Combined Arms Services and Staff School (CAS3). His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf
cluster, Army Commendation Medals (2OLC), Army Achievement Medals (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Army Superior Unit Award.
He was awarded the Order of Saint George by the Cavalry and Armor Association.
Dr. Lazzara was married to the former Myong Yim of the Republic of Korea in July 1988 at Camp Casey, Korea. They have two (2) sons in the Army, a CW3(P) Helicopter pilot and a CPT in the MP Branch. He lives in Appling, GA just outside of Augusta, GA with his wife.
