His first duty assignment was as Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry (Mechanized), 27th Armored Division, Schenectady, New York. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Aide-de-Camp/Executive Officer, State Area Command, Albany, New York; Executive Officer/Company Commander, E Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry, Republic of Vietnam; Company Commander/S-1, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry, Republic of Vietnam; Commanding Officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, State Area Command, Albany, New York; Commandant, State Military Academy, New York; and Commanding Officer, Army National Guard Training Site, New York; and Plans, Operations, and Training Officer, State Area Command, Albany, New York. | Colonel Quinlan is a graduate of the Infantry Officer’s Basic Course, Basic Airborne Course, Infantry Officer’s Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, and the National Defense University. | His military awards include: Silver Star, Bronze Star w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star w/ V Device, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
