Major Audis Buddy Garner commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School 18 December 1961. His first duty assignment was a Rifle Platoon Leader with the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado in the spring of 1962. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Company Executive Officer, 4th ID Fort Carson, Colorado; Alpha Team Leader, lOth Special Forces Group, Bad Toelz, Germany; Special Forces Advisor, 5th SFG/MACVSOG Vietnam; Infantry Career Course, Fort Benning, Georgia; Company Commander, 1st Cavalry Division, Vietnam; Recruiting Detachment Commander, Recruiting Command Dallas, Texas; TRADOC Tampa, Florida; Alpha Company Commander, 101st SFG, Fort Devens, Massachusetts; Company Commander, Battalion XO, 10th SFG, Bad Toelz, Germany; Division Material Maint. Officer 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell, Kentucky. | Major Garner's military training and education includes: Officer Candidate School, Airborne School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster Course, Infantry Officer's Advanced Course and the Special Forces Qualification Course.
