Colonel Albert D. Neely was commissioned upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 11-52, 14 April 1952. His first duty assignment was as a TAC Officer, 11th Company, 1st Officer Candidate (OC) Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. | His subsequent duty assignments include: Executive Officer, 14th Company, 1st OC Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; Company Commander, 1st Battalion, 32d Infantry, 7th Infantry Division, Korea; Instructor, Platoon Tactics, U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia; Order of Battle Officer and Area Intel Officer, 513th Military Intelligence (MI) Group, Germany; S3 and Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Senior Advisor, U.S. Army MACV, 9th ARepublic of Vietnam Regiment, 5th ARepublic of Vietnam Division, Vietnam; Project Officer, Airborne/Infantry Doctrine, U.S. Army Combat Development Command (CD.C), Combat Arms Group, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 47th Infantry, 171st Infantry Brigade, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Post Commander, Headquarters, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry, 1st Infantry Brigade, 5th Mech, Vietnam.
